The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL), a Government of West Bengal Enterprise, engaged in the business of Generation of Electricity in the State of West Bengal, invites applications from Indian Nationals to fill-up the following positions for its Corporate Office and Power Stations / Projects located at different places across West Bengal

Qualification & Eligibility Criteria:

A. Trainee -Operator / Technician

Stipend of ` 7500/- per month during 01(One) year traineeship. On absorption to be placed in Pay Band of ` 6300 – ` 20200 with Grade Pay of ` 2600. 

• No. of positions:175 - Fitter – 88 | Electrician – 87

Fitter – 88 (SC – 20 | OBC (A) – 09 | OBC (B) – 06 | ST – 05 | UR – 43 | PWD – 03 | MSP - 02)

Electrician – 87 (SC – 19 | OBC (A) – 08 | OBC (B) – 07 | ST – 06 | UR – 42 | PWD – 03 | MSP - 02)

• Qualification: At least 50% marks in Madhyamik or equivalent examination and Trade Certificate (ITI) under NCVT from any recognized Industrial Training Institute in the trade of Fitter / Electrician (2yrs duration)respectively. Part time courses / courses undertaken through Distance mode / sandwich courses shall not be considered.

• Age Limit: 26 yrs as on 01.04.2013 for General category candidates. Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD candidates. Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen applicants shall be applicable as per norms. 

B. Assistant Sub Inspector(Security)

Pay Band of ` 6300 – ` 20200 with Grade Pay of ` 2600.

• No of positions: 36

(SC - 09 | ST - 02 | OBC (A) - 03 | OBC (B) - 03 | UR -17 | PWD - 01 | MSP -01)

• Qualification: Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with at least 5 (five) years service in Defense / Para-Military service. Experience in Industrial Security in a responsible position at any organisation of repute will be preferred. Part time courses / courses undertaken through Distance mode / sandwich courses shall not be considered.

• Age Limit: 35 years as on 01.04.2013 for General category candidates including applicable relaxation for Ex-Serviceman.Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST, 03 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD candidates. Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen applicants shall be applicable as per norms.

C. Nurse cum Midwife 

Pay Band of ` 6300 – ` 20200 with Grade Pay of ` 2600.

• No of positions: 09

(SC - 04 | ST - 01 | OBC (A) - 02 | OBC (B) - 01 | PWD– 01)

• Qualification:Higher Secondary / equivalent and having Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery from an institute recognized by the Indian / West Bengal Nursing Council and having registration with the West Bengal Nursing Council. 01(One) yr working experience in OT and inpatient department will be preferred. Part time courses / courses undertaken through Distance mode / 

degrees from Open Universities / sandwich courses shall not be considered.

• Age Limit: 30 yrs as on 01.04.2013 for General category candidates. Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST, 03 years for OBC,10 years for PWD candidates. Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen applicants shall be applicable as per norms. 

D. Security Officer 

Pay Band of ` 15600 – ` 39100 with Grade Pay of ` 5400.

• No of positions: 5 

(SC-01 | ST -01 | UR -03)

• Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from any institution / university recognized by the UGC with at least 5 yrs service in Defense / Para Military service / Short Service Commission not below the rank of Lieutenant / Assistant Commandant. 

Experience in Industrial security in a responsible position at any organisation of repute will be preferred. Part time courses / courses undertaken through Distance mode / degrees from Open Universities / sandwich courses shall not be considered.

• Age Limit: 35 years as on 01.04.2013 for General category candidates including applicable relaxation for Ex-Serviceman.Age limit 

is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST and 03 years for OBC candidates.

E. Stenographer 

Pay Band of ` 6300 – ` 20200 with Grade Pay of ` 3600.

• No of positions: 15 

(SC- 04 | ST - 01 | OBC (A) - 02 | OBC (B) - 01 | UR - 06 | PWD – 01)

• Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from any institution / university recognized by the UGC with at least 50 % marks, having proficiency in English language. Candidates must knowthe operations of MS Office and must have minimum speed of 100 words per minute in shorthand with Computer key depression speed of at least 8000 per hour. Knowledge of typing in Bengali font will be considered as an added qualification. Candidates having graduated through distance education mode / Open University shall not be considered.

• Age Limit: 30 yrs as on 01.04.2013 for General category candidates. Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST, 03 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD candidates. Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen applicants shall be applicable as per norms. 

F. Medical Officer

Pay Band of ` 15600 – ` 39100 with Grade Pay of ` 5400.

• No of positions: 2 (ST -01 | OBC (A) – 1)*

• Qualification: MBBS from any institute of repute recognized by the Medical Council of India, having completed 01(one) year internship. Preference shall be given to candidates having 01(one) year experience of House Staff ship in Medicine / Cardiology / Pediatrics / Child Care.

• Age Limit: 35 years as on 01.04.2013 for ST candidates | 33 years as on 01.04.2013 for OBC (A) candidates. 

G. Assistant Teacher

• Pay Band of ` 9000 – ` 40500 with Grade Pay of ` 4800 (for Post Graduate candidates)

• Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech (4 Yrs fulltime) in Computer Science or Information Technology from any recognised University or reputed Institute approved by AICTE.

• Age Limit: 26 yrs as on 01.04.2013. Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST, 03 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD candidates. 

I. Assistant Manager - Legal 

Pay Band of ` 15600 – ` 39100 with Grade Pay of ` 5400.

• No of positions: 01 (SC-01)

• Qualification: 5 yrs integrated degree in Law / Graduate with LLB from any institution / University recognized by the UGC /AICTE and approved by the Bar Council of India having 2 yrs post qualification experience or more as legal practitioner or as an officer in a large reputed Industry / institute / legal firm / commercial house etc. in handling labour / industrial / civil / criminal / taxation / service matter and dealing / drafting contract matters or in judicial service.

• Age Limit: 33 years as on 01.04.2013 for SC category candidates.

J. Radiographer 

Pay band ` 6300 - ` 20200 with Grade Pay ` 3600

• No of positions: 03 (SC-01 | UR-02)

• Qualification: Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from WBHSE or equivalent with 2 years Diploma in Radiography (Diagnostics) / DRD (Tech.) recognised by the Govt. of West Bengal OR Postgraduate diploma in Radiography (Diagnostics) / DRD (Tech.) from any recognised university. Preference will be given to candidates having 01 (one) year experience in any Hospital or in a clinical establishment.

K. Pharmacist

Pay band ` 6300 - ` 20200 with Grade Pay ` 3600

• Qualification: Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or equivalent and 2 year diploma course in Pharmacy recognised by the Govt. of West Bengal and registered as 'A' category Pharmacist under the West Bengal Pharmacy Council / Pharmacy Council of India. Preference will be given to candidates having 01 (one) year experience in any Hospital or in a clinical establishment.

• Age Limit: 30 years as on 01.04.2013 for SC category candidates.

L. Laboratory Technician

Pay band ` 6300 - ` 20200 with Grade Pay ` 3600

• No of positions: 02 (SC-01 | UR-01)

• Qualification: Higher Secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or equivalent and 2 year diploma course in Laboratory 

technology from any institute or University recognised by the UGC or B.Sc from recognised university with 1 year Diploma course in Laboratory Technology recognised by the Government of West Bengal. Preference will be given to candidates having 

01 (one) year experience in any Hospital or in a clinical establishment

• Age Limit: 30 years as on 01.04.2013. Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST and 03 years for OBC candidates.

M. Librarian

Pay band ` 7100 - ` 37600 with Grade Pay ` 3900 

• No of positions: 01 (UR-01)

• Qualification:Graduate with Degree / Diploma in Library Science from a Govt. recognised University / Institute.

• Age Limit: 30 years as on 01.04.2013. Age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC / ST and 03 years for OBC candidates.

APPLICATION FEE & MODE OF PAYMENT:

General and OBC candidates are required to deposit a non-refundable Application Fee of ` 300/- (Rupees Three Hundred only). SC / ST /

EC / Contractors’ workers / Departmental candidates are exempted form deposition of Application Fees. The application fee is to be 

deposited through Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque drawn in favour of ‘THE WEST BENGAL POWER DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION 

LIMITED’ payable at Kolkata. Candidates are mandatorily required to mention their name, system generated registration no. and position 

applied for at the reverse of the demand draft / bankers cheque.SELECTION PROCESS:

Eligible candidates will be required to appear for written test to be held in Kolkata only.

• For the position of Trainee – Operator / Technician, Assistant Sub Inspector (Security), Nurse cum Midwife, Radiographer, 

Pharmacist, Laboratory Technician, Librarian, Security Officer and Medical Officer, selection will be made on the basis of written 

test and interview only. However, candidates appearing for the written test shall be shortlisted for appearing in the personal 

interview. 

• For the positions of Assistant Manager – IT and Assistant Manager – Legal, selection will be made on the basis of written test, 

group discussion and interview. However, candidates appearing for the written test shall be shortlisted for appearing in the 

group discussion and personal interview.

• For Assistant Teacher, selection will be made on the basis of written test, class demo and personal interview. However, 

candidates appearing for written test shall be shortlisted for appearing in Class Demo and Personal Interview. 

• For Stenographer position selection will be made on the basis of written test, trade test (short hand & computer proficiency) 

and personal interview. However, candidates appearing for the written test shall be shortlisted for appearing in the trade test

(shorthand & Computer Proficiency test) followed by Personal Interview. 

Besides, final offer of appointment shall be made upon review of reports of medical fitness test of the candidate.

2. The candidates can access the online application form at www.wbpdcl.co.in . Online registrations will be open from 10:00 hrs of 07.08.2013 to 17.00 hrs of 06.09.2013.

3. All correspondence with candidates shall be done through E-mail only. All information regarding examination schedule / download of Admit Card / Interview Call letters, etc. shall be provided through E-mail only or through the WBPDCL website. Further mentioned,that no hardcopy mailing of Admit Card / Interview Call letters shall be done by the WBPDCL. Responsibility of receiving, downloading and printing of Admit Card / Call Letter shall be that of the candidate. The WBPDCL will not be responsible for any loss of E-mail sent due to invalid / wrong E-mail ID provided by the candidate or delivery of E-mails to SPAM / BULK mail folder etc.

4. Screening and selection will be based on the details provided by the candidate hence it is necessary that the applicants should 

furnish only accurate, full and correct information. Furnishing of wrong / false information will be a disqualification and The
